Your ability to sell is directly proportional to your passion about the product or service you are selling. So, how do you develop passion? What exactly does it mean?

The Shiny Object Madness

I started in online business a couple of years ago. I was eager to learn everything about the business and was particularly vulnerable to the skillful pitches of "gurus" who promised the moon in return for my money.

It's not to say that all of the products I bought were useless. Some were actually good only if I would stay with them long enough and learn to use them. The problem was not a lack of good products. The problem was, and still is to a lesser degree, my inability to stay with one product long enough to make a progress.

I'd get excited about a new wonderful product for a day or two... then, before I had a chance to learn it, I'd have another offer in my mail box with bigger promise and a price deadline that said that the price would double or quadruple by 12:59 pm. So, of course, I had to buy it then and there. I bought a product, did not use it, then bought another product that did the same thing! The cycle repeated over and over... It was a nightmare!

You see, if you keep jumping from one product to another, what you get is just a scant knowledge of those products or none at all. You know how the product is supposed to work but there is no real conviction that the product will work as promised.

Too many products and too many memberships are a real drain on productivity. Instead of spending time to boost your sales and build your business, you get overwhelmed by information overload. Instead of producing, you get stuck in perpetual learning mode, that is, learning how to use new product or new membership site that you just purchased.

How To Stop Information Overload

Stop! Stop wasting your time and money! First, make a commitment not to buy any new product or membership for the next six months. Better and bigger offers will always be available. Buy them only when you are ready for them, not when their marketer wants to sell it to you. Your business will benefit greatly and you wallet will thank you for sticking to this one commitment.

Second, choose a promising product or membership site that you already own and spend some quality time with it. Learn it, start using it. If you decide you like the product, then you'll be in great position to promote it as an authority. Start promoting it and keep good notes about your progress. When your sales funnel starts working on autopilot, then and only then, it's a good idea to add another product to your sales inventory.

Knowledge Means Authority

Not knowing what you sell means you can't make convincing suggestions. No conviction means no authority. Instead of using specific suggestions and meaningful insights, the marketer uses generic terms that say absolutely nothing about the product, such as "save money", "save time", "many benefits", etc. The problem is that these are the relative terms that can be applied to almost any product. They have been overused to death and, as a result, have become ineffective cliches.

Authority Brings Success

When you have intimate product knowledge, you can write articles that highlight meaningful benefits of the product. You can write genuine reviews that inspire confidence. You can mentor your audience on how to use the product. If you like and use the product, you can share your own success stories. In short, you become the authority figure to help them succeed if they buy the product from you.

Share_passionSuccess Leads to Passion
The more success you have with the product, the more passionate you will feel about it. Your passion will give you the conviction needed to promote the product successfully. Your passion will inspire others to join your club.

Passion Means More Sales

Knowing your product well makes you a magnet to people who are looking to buy that product. Share what you know and they will come. This is the core of attraction marketing. If knowledge is a key to selling, passion is the key to becoming a top affiliate.
